Teenage Obesity

Obesity in the United States has been a major issue over the past decade. The rise of fast food and the "junk food" craze has caused this issue to be a never ending concern. Children as young as two years old have been dealing with such weight issues and this issue will continue as they grow older. Many individuals have blamed the issue of obesity for teenagers and young adults on the lack of physical exercise. They believe that their has been a decrease in the amount of exercise due to the new technology such as computers, video games ,TV etc. Although the rise of these new technologies influences young adults, lack of physical exercise is not the main and only cause of obesity. Diet is the main concern and a lack of nutrients and healthy foods can lead to sickness and diseases. The rise of obesity has also caused a rise of type II diabetes. I believe that we need to do something about the obesity issue. Schools around the country have been passing stricter food guidelines for their snacks and cafeteria foods. I believe that this is a great start but maybe the schools can provide more awareness about the long term effects that poor eating can have on your future. I think that if students learned more about how their diet will effect their future, that they would be more willing to change some bad habits as well as try to exercise more often. Will the U.S. ever be able to put a stop to the rise of obesity or is it already too late?
