Looking on msn.com I found this interesting video and article about a new type of medical marijuana...in the form of soda. It will be sold for the first time in Colorado this month and is expected to be sold in California, where you can already purchase marijuana for medicinal purposes. There are 5 different flavors of this marijuana soda that is being sold: Doc Weed (supposed to taste like Dr. Pepper), Orange Kush, Grape Ape, Sour Diesel and Canna Cola. In states where medical marijuana is sold legally, you can buy the 12 ounce cans for 10-12$. It will have the combined flavors of THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana) and whatever flavor of soda that you choose. In order to purchase this soda in one of the 15 states (including the District of Columbia) where it is legal to take medicinal marijuana, you must have a doctor’s prescription and medical marijuana card and of course be of the legal age to consume it, unless you have a parent or doctor’s permission. One issue that has been brought up by Allen St. Pierre, the executive director of NORML Foundation, is that certain marijuana products, such as this soda, are directed towards children and that children may not recognize that these products are in fact a drug. Pierre believes that since marijuana is regarded by many as a drug, it should have the same child-proof packaging and protective measures as any other prescription. Many people have different stances on the matter of marijuana, but it will be interesting to see how the introduction of this marijuana cola to the medical world plays out.
